Goal

Be the first pirate to earn three Clue Tokens by surviving three Storms. In case of a tie, continue until a pirate wins by 1.

Set up

Shuffle the Port Deck and the Event Deck. Place both in the middle of the table. Leave space next to the Port Deck for its discard pile. From the Port Deck, deal 5 cards to each pirate face up. These cards make up the components of each pirate’s Ship. The maximum Ship size is 7 cards. Next, deal 2 Port cards per player face up to the middle of the table. These cards make up the Port. Keep the Clue Tokens nearby and give The Peg Leg to the pirate who was last on a ship.

How to read Port Cards

Each Port card has a suit, strength, ability, and phase. The suits are:

Crew, Ship, and Supply

The strength of each suit is valued at 1, 2, or 3. Abilities are varied and explained in each card’s description. The phase in which each card’s ability takes place is represented by:

for Draft, for Action, and for Event.

Both the cards’ abilities and the cumulative strength in each suit will help pirates survive the Storms.

Gameplay

Draft Phase: cards resolve before or after this phase.

Resolve cards that say, “before Draft Phase.” Starting with the pirate holding The Peg Leg, each pirate drafts one card from the Port or the top of the Port Deck. Continue clockwise until each pirate Drafts twice. Pirates must discard any card if Drafting exceeds their maximum ship size of 7 cards. Resolve cards that say, “after Draft Phase.” If there are any leftover cards in the Port, they are discarded.

Action Phase: Only 1 card per player resolves during this phase.

Starting with the pirate holding The Peg Leg, each pirate takes 1 Action from an card of their choice on their Ship. Continue clockwise until each pirate has had 1 turn. If you have no cards, your turn is skipped. Pirates are allowed to pass their turn if they don’t want to use an Action.

How to read Event Cards

Storm

Storm cards have black borders and two descriptions. The top description is what your Ship needs to survive the Storm. If you survive, you earn a Clue Token. The bottom description is the consequence you must take if you don’t survive the Storm

Fair Weather

Fair Weather cards have white borders. Follow the description and reveal the next Event.

Event Phase: cards resolve after this phase.

Reveal the top card of the Event Deck. If the event is Fair Weather, follow the description and reveal the next Event

If the event is a Storm, each pirate’s Ship that fulfills the requirement in the top description survives the Storm and earns a Clue Token. Each pirate’s Ship that doesn’t fulfill the requirement suffers the consequences in the bottom description. All cards resolve. If there is no winner, pass The Peg Leg clockwise and continue to Draft Phase to start the next round.
